Introduction
This proposal for 1204 York Avenue connects the medical buildings on the south end of Rockefeller University's campus with a new housing and dining building to create a community of living, working and nourishment for the doctors who work in the research labs at the university. The proposal also extends the university's southern plaza toward the East River for better access to views and open space.
Research and Iteration

Main Idea
This proposal activates the disconnected southeastern corner of Rockefeller University’s Campus, and turns it into a pivotal connection point for the university. It does this by bridging Weiss Café with the main floor of the Rockefeller Research Building, and extending the public courtyard of Peggy Rockefeller Plaza toward views of the East River. The energy that these connections will create is balanced by a slender, light filled tower that sits on top.

Takeaway
In this project, I put a lot of energy in the iterative stage of the design process. I pushed myself to flesh out multiple schemes, which helped me reveal the strengths and weaknesses of each iteration by comparing them against each other. My process through this project reaffirmed the power of designing in multiples. By the end, I discovered a scheme that was simple in form, and clear in communicating my idea.
